Castlefest 2014

This past saturday I once again went to Castlefest (an annual 3 day event in Holland which has a medieval/fantasy theme), but this time I was really, really last minute about it. Without the time to finish a costume I chose for an Elsa inspired lolita outfit that I was already planning on doing sometime.
Outfit rundown; dress: Metamorphose, layer: BTSSB, crinoline: 4 O'Clock, rest offbrand

As I had to travel for about 2 hours to get to Keukenhof I got up pretty early to have plenty of time to finish my make-up (I'm always struggling with make-up, and this time I wanted to get the Elsa look). I used my own hair for the outfit and added little snowflakes, it was quite basic compared to my normal event costumes, but as a lolita outfit I really loved the final outcome.

Once I arrived at the venue there was a huge line for tickets (huge as in Disney huge :o), luckily Cat and Stefan were already inside with a ticket for me, allowing me to skip the queue.
Stefan was waiting with my ticket at the gate, and we soon met up with Cat and her mom. Cat was wearing an awesome dress from Haenuli with deers and bunnies.
It was great to once again taste the wonderful atmosphere these kind of events have. We walked around looking at the merchandise on sale, ate hemp bread, and just sat down looking at other people. There were notably less costumes in general and most of the costumes were also less impressive than previous years, but that was to be expected with the extreme heat we are experiencing currently (extreme heat in Holland is anywhere above 25 degrees C ;) ).
Time flew by and at about 19:30 I said goodbye and started my long journey back home.

Old School Meet

On 22-06-2014 Josine and I organized the old school meeting. We both love old school clothes, and we are regularly discussing old school finds. We felt there was a lack of opportunities to wear our old school clothes, thus the meet was born.
Slowly time passed by, until 22-06 and to our great surprise we had gathered a group of 14 lolitas who wanted to join the meet.
We agreed to meet at Utrecht Central station at the Bruna (a bookshop). Everyone arrived at the assigned time, except Pichi Pie, who was accidentally standing at the wrong Bruna, we felt so guilty because we had no idea there was a second one on the station.
After we had the whole group together we walked to King Arthur, a restaurant located near the canals, were we had a nice group lunch.
Once everyone finished their lunch we went on our way to the Oude Hortus, which are the old university gardens that are still being taken care of. We took a lot of photo's here, and I made a short movie in which you can see everyones outfits and just in general how much fun we had.

Behind the Mask

On 3 May 2014 some girls from our comm organized the Behind the Mask event. The dresscode was lolita and masks, such a fancy event gave me the opportunity to use an OTT piece from my wardrobe.
After I had decided on which dress to wear and my main theme, roses, I could start collecting accessories and most importantly start hunting for a mask. Finding just the right mask was quite difficult, but in the end I found the page of an elderly lady who sold made and sold masks. She was selling the exact kind of mask that I had in mind.
The event was held in a beautiful church room, whit plenty of space for all the guests and merchants. There were a few stalls selling all kinds of cute lolita items, I bought an adorable cat necklace for my mom from Senõr Bear. There were also 2 different workshops, one on wig care and the other about tea, I wasn't able to attend them, so I filled my time whit talking to a few old and new friends.
One activity I did participate in was the fashion contest. It was both great and scary at the same time to be competing against all the amazing outfits. I was really surprised when the winners were announced and I won the 3rd price, I won a super cute set from Summer Tales Boutique.

Hello Kitty high tea 23-02-2014

On sunday 23-02-2014 our comm had a Hello Kitty high tea meet. Set Genki Tei in The Hague offered to organize a lolita sunday, offering people a chance to meet lolitas in real life.
I had planned my outfit quite some time ahead of this meeting, I tried to go for a princes looking outfit, including massive poof. I really liked the look of the outfit, but it did give me a bit of a problem moving inside the train.

Outfit rundown: dress & necklace & coat; AatP, shoes; BTSSB, crinoline; 4 O'Clock, underskirt; handmade, tights & tiara; offbrand

I managed to get to The Hague in one piece, where a big group of lolitas were waiting, we actually had such a big group they had to split us up.

The high tea consisted of Hello Kitty shaped cookies, chocolates in the form of Hello Kitty's head, cream puffs (these should have been filled whit red bean according to the description given on the site, however they were just normal cream puffs), blueberry and strawberry cheesecake (also shaped like Hello Kitty's head), sushi (this seemed kind of out of place and honestly didn't taste that good), and a cheese tosti (which were imprinted with a Hello Kitty head, but were really dry and served with jam, I've never seen anyone eat their tosti whit jam :o).
Honestly I was kind of disappointed with the high tea, the tableware and food looked great, but the taste was only so-so.
Still I would go back to Set Genki Tei, as the cheesecakes were little pieces of heaven, and the dinner I had there was great.
I made 2 videos of the meet, one outfit video and one general video.
